Confronting Prosperity Theology
Prosperity teachers love to quote parts of Malachi ch3, but did you know that "3He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD. 4Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years."?
God purifies us, and then we will bring Him pleasing offerings in righteousness. It's heart motive that God is looking at. He's looking for faith, hope, and love, and He must be our first love. In Jesus we have all of that, all thanks to the Father. Bearing good, eternal fruit of the Holy Spirit.
What impurities (that keep people from bringing pleasing offerings in righteousness to the Lord) do you think God wants to remove?
How can we use what we are currently stewards of to bear eternal spiritual fruit?
Although we enjoy the benefits of our gifts from God, what is the purpose of our gifts according to the greatest commandments?
